Tunnel Face Pre-injection

Stabilization when driving tunnels or galleries

Preventive consolidation and stabilization of fault zones immediately in front of the heading face in tunneling and gallery driving.

Used for

  • Shifted, unstable rock strata, rock folds or sedimentary rock
  • Loose rock mass, rubble, soil
  • Rock with a high void content, karst
  • Water-bearing strata and voids

In case of water ingress or pressurized in-situ water, additional waterstopping and sealing measures are necessary.

Materials adapted to the tunneling method:

  • Use of TBM: stabilization systems such as e.g. silicate resins
    • suitable for cutting and planing
    • non-stick properties
    • fast strength development
  • Conventional tunneling such as drilling and blasting or excavation: mostly polyurethane systems
    • fast strength development
    • flexibly adjustable
    • waterstop and sealing at the same time

Depending on the size of the fault zones, heading face stabilization, curtain injection, rock mass stabilization or void filling may be necessary.

Products Used

  • Hybrid Injection System

    WEBAC® HIS

    • Consolidation Line

WEBAC HIS is a hybrid injection resin used as a reactive component for large-volume cement grouting and holds National Technical Approval. It is characterized by rapid strength development and cures even underwater to form a stabilizing and sealing material. The resin is used to secure Foundation Pits and tunnel structures, as well as for subsoil stabilization and void filling.

  • PU Injection Resins

    WEBAC® PURseal M SL10

    • Consolidation Line

WEBAC PURseal M SL10 is a PU injection resin with extended working and penetration times that has received DIBt approval for environmental compatibility when in contact with soil and groundwater. The resin cures into a compact, high-strength material without contact with water and reacts with a slight foaming effect when it comes into contact with water. It is used for subsoil stabilization and rock reinforcement, as well as for permanent waterproofing.

  • PU Injection Resins

    WEBAC® PURseal M SL5

    • Consolidation Line

WEBAC PURseal M SL5 is a relatively fast-curing PU injection resin. It cures into a compact, high-strength material without contact with water, but reacts with slight foaming when it comes into contact with water. The resin is used for subsoil stabilization and rock reinforcement, as well as for securing foundation pits and tunnel structures.

  • Silicate Resins

    WEBAC® SILcompact M

    • Consolidation Line

WEBAC SILcompact M is a non-foaming silicate injection resin with German Mining Approval. It offers excellent flow properties and cures very quickly into a compact material that can be cut and planed. The resin is used for stabilizing and sealing tunnel structures and in mining applications.

  • Silicate Resins

    WEBAC® SILfill

    • Consolidation Line

WEBAC SILfill is a low-viscosity silicate injection foam resin. Even without contact with water, it forms a fine-celled foam with a high expansion ratio and cures quickly into a material that can be cut and planed. The resin is used for shield injection in the immediate vicinity of TBMs, as well as for subsoil stabilization and rock reinforcement.

  • Silicate Resins

    WEBAC® SILform

    • Consolidation Line

WEBAC SILform is a silicate injection foam resin that foams and sets rapidly. It reacts with or without contact with water and cures into a pressure-resistant material that can be cut and planed. The resin is used for stabilizing and permanently sealing tunnel structures and in mining applications.
