Undergrade building components in contact with the ground, such as basements, underground parking garages, retaining walls, and terraces, must be permanently protected against penetration of ground moisture and seepage water.
Bituminous products, such as bitumen-acrylate dispersions, are used for surface waterproofing; depending on the requirements, they provide reliable exterior waterproofing. They are suitable for waterproofing against both non-pressurized and pressurized water, as well as for horizontal waterproofing applications such as balconies and terraces, and are also used under plaster in historic preservation projects.

WEBAC 5611 is a reactive bitumen-acrylate dispersion that adheres well to a wide variety of substrates and has crack-bridging properties. The hydrophobic effect of the bitumen component creates a waterproof seal with reliable protection against leaching by salts harmful to structures. This makes WEBAC 5611 suitable for surface waterproofing against hydrostatic pressure in building construction, civil engineering, and historic preservation.
