Sealing of Masonry

Waterproofing against capillary moisture

Undergrade building components are exposed to various moisture loads such as seepage water, ground moisture, and groundwater. In the base area, there are additional loads, e.g., from splash water, ice, de-icing salt, and thermal loads due to temperature changes. Masonry structures consist of a wide variety of building materials and stone formats, as well as porous concrete and tamped concrete. The purpose of repair is to protect the component from the penetration of moisture and substances that damage the material, such as chlorides.

In a properly constructed building, appropriate sealing measures prevent moisture from penetrating. However, construction defects, changed conditions, or aging of the building materials can repeatedly cause temporary or permanent moisture damage.

The consequences are manifold:

  • the thermal insulation value of the wall deteriorates; increased heat loss occurs
  • spores, algae, and fungi find an ideal breeding ground on the damp wall
  • Salts that penetrate the building component lead to efflorescence and flaking

In the long term, this can compromise the stability of a building. Effective measures against moisture penetration are therefore necessary to protect the usability and preserve the building fabric.

WEBAC products for your post-construction damp proof course (dpc): Before the post-construction damp proof course (dpc) is installed, a comprehensive structural condition analysis is necessary for a well-planned repair concept. Based on this analysis, conclusions can be drawn about the causes of damage and the type and quantity of materials required can be determined.

  • PU Injection Resins

    WEBAC® 1660

    • Classic Line

WEBAC 1660 is a CE-certified PU injection resin with high compressive and bending tensile strength. It foams slightly upon contact with water and, under dry conditions, cures into a virtually pore-free, solid, and waterproof material. It is used for sealing, bonding, and structural solidification of concrete and masonry; for filling cavities/voids and gravel pockets; and for structural bonding of dry voids in rubble masonry and loose rock.

  • PU Injection Foam Resins

    WEBAC® 150

    • Classic Line

WEBAC 150 is a versatile PU injection foam resin (SPU) that is particularly valued for its safe and easy application. Upon contact with water, it cures with significant expansion to form a surface-tight, firm-elastic foam with a very fine-cell structure. This makes it suitable for the rapid, temporary closure and sealing of pressurized water-bearing cracks, cavities/voids, and leaks in building construction, civil engineering, bridge construction, and tunnel construction.

  • PU Injection Foam Resins

    WEBAC® 157

    • Classic Line

WEBAC 157 is an elastic PU injection foam resin (SPU) with a very fine-pored foam structure. Upon contact with water, this low-viscosity material forms a surface-tight, adaptable foam. It is suitable for temporarily closing, sealing, and filling cracks, cavities/voids, and gaps in masonry, concrete, and natural stone—e.g., in shaft construction and water management structures—and can also be used where there is limited movement of structural components.
