Soil Stabilization

Solidification and stabilizing soils

Extreme weather conditions – great wetness/floods and long dry periods – disturb the natural equilibrium moisture and the structure of many water-permeable soils. This leads to undermining, cavities/voids, gaping cracks, crevices and settlements. Foundation soil, slopes and earth walls lose their stability, buildings sag and crack.

Depending on the type of damage, the stability and load-bearing capacity of the substrate must be restored.

This includes:

  • Filling/stabilizing cavities/voids/voids
  • Increasing soil cohesion
  • Dam and slope stabilization
  • Displacement and sealing against in-situ water (under pressure/in flow)
  • Post-construction foundation laying
  • Lining/injection of floor slabs
  • In practice, soil injections are used, often in conjunction with injected ram injection lances and soil nailing.

Our injection systems with a wide range of material properties allow a partial elastic deformability of the injected substrate as well as the rebuilding of a solid, stable base.

Soil consolidation is a process that can be used to improve the load-bearing capacity of a soil. Special binding agents are added to the subsoil for this purpose. Their purpose is to make the subsoil permanently resistant to mechanical loads. Soil consolidation is also intended to ensure that the soil is as resistant as possible to water and frost.

Soil consolidation prevents subsidence from occurring and leading to deformation of structures. Settlement is often caused by barely perceptible vibrations. However, subsidence is also caused by water flushing and the associated soil erosion. This can lead to the formation of cavities or hollows in soft soil layers. Soil stabilization and consolidation is then necessary. Loose soils can be stabilized and consolidated by targeted injections into the subsoil. The special silicate and polyurethane resin-based products used for ground injection are characterized by high strength and fast curing.

Products Used

  • Silicate Resins

    WEBAC® 2061

    • Classic Line

WEBAC 2061 is a very low-viscosity, water-resistant silicate injection solution. It reacts to form a chemically resistant, solidified structure and is suitable for stabilizing and solidifying non-cohesive to weakly cohesive soils and masonry.

  • Injection Pumps

    WEBAC® IP 2K-PU

    • Classic Line
    • Consolidation Line

The WEBAC IP 2K-PU is an air-powered 2C double-piston pump designed for dispensing polyurethane resins in a 1:1 mixing ratio. It is characterized by high dispensing accuracy and a robust, site-ready design, and is available with a variety of connection systems and mixing heads. The pump is used for the sealing of foundation pits, as well as for ground injection and the backfilling of cavities/voids.

  • PU Injection Resins

    WEBAC® PURseal

    • Consolidation Line

WEBAC PURseal is a fast-curing, permanently sealing PU injection resin. It cures into a compact, high-strength material without contact with water, while it reacts with a slight foaming action upon contact with water. The resin is used for subsoil stabilization and rock reinforcement, as well as for sealing against flowing and pressurized water in Foundation Pits, tunnels, and transportation infrastructure projects.
