The city wall of Potsdam, originally built in 1733, was expanded in the 18th century on the initiative of Frederick William I, known as the “Soldier King.” Originally intended for defense, the wall soon served more to keep out contraband and prevent soldiers from deserting. At the beginning of the 19th century, large sections of the wall were demolished; today, the remaining sections are listed as historical monuments.
The historic city wall is made of brick covered with tiles. Its architectural features include massive pillars connected by characteristic round arches.

Dispersion for Walls and Floors
WEBAC 5611 is a reactive bitumen-acrylate dispersion that adheres well to a wide variety of substrates and has crack-bridging properties. The hydrophobic effect of the bitumen component creates a waterproof seal with reliable protection against leaching by salts harmful to structures. This makes WEBAC 5611 suitable for surface waterproofing against hydrostatic pressure in building construction, civil engineering, and historic preservation.
