PU Injection Resins
WEBAC® 1405
- Classic Line
The Katzenberg Tunnel is part of the Karlsruhe–Basel railway line and, at 9,385 meters long, is one of the longest railway tunnels in Germany. The two parallel, single-track tunnel tubes allow speeds of up to 250 km/h and run between Bad Bellingen and Efringen-Kirchen.
Geologically, the tunnel mainly passes through soft rock layers such as clay, marl, limestone, and sandstone formations. These complex layers are highly fissured in places, resulting in the formation of up to four groundwater levels. The tunnel lies entirely below the mountain water table.

Due to the difficult geological conditions, water ingress and leaks had to be anticipated during the planning phase of the Katzenberg Tunnel—especially at the transitions between the tubbing tubes and the 18 cross passages constructed using mining techniques. Injection hose systems were installed as a preventive measure at predictable interfaces such as the cross passage connections in order to be able to respond specifically to water contamination.
In addition, unforeseeable leaks also occurred, particularly as a result of cracks in the concrete. In these cases, quick and reliable sealing was crucial in order to avoid construction delays and consequential damage. The certified injection system from WEBAC was used for these critical sealing measures. In particular, the PU injection resin WEBAC 1405, which is tested and monitored in accordance with ZTV-ING and EN 1504-5, proved its worth with its high adhesion and elasticity even under difficult conditions. In addition, the WEBAC 4525 epoxy special filler was used to create a stable patch for the injections on damp and poorly load-bearing substrates.
PU Injection Resins
WEBAC 1405 is a low-viscosity, CE-certified PU injection resin. It cures with constant volume to form an elastic, limited-elasticity resin. Upon contact with water, it forms a uniform, closed, and watertight pore structure. It is used for closing, sealing, and limited-elasticity filling of dry, damp, or water-bearing cracks, as well as for sealing cavities/voids in building construction, civil engineering, bridge construction, tunnel construction, and shaft construction.
Epoxy Putties and Adhesives
WEBAC 4525 is a non-drip, universal epoxy putty. It cures into a solid mass with high chemical resistance and can be applied even on damp substrates and in areas exposed to water. It is particularly suitable for bonding mineral building materials and for crack sealing.
