Renovation of the inspection shafts, Odertalsperre
The Oder Dam is located in the Harz Mountains, above Bad Lauterberg in the district of Osterode in Lower Saxony. It was commissioned in 1934 and has since fulfilled two key functions: flood protection and power generation.
Between 2011 and 2015, the dam complex underwent extensive renovation to maintain its technical functionality and operational safety in the long term.
During the repair work, numerous structural defects were discovered in the inspection shafts. These included cracks, cavities/voids, leaky joints, and damp and wet concrete surfaces. In addition, water pressure was detected in the lower part of the shafts, which compromised the structural integrity of the concrete core.
WEBAC PURseal injection resin was used to seal the concrete core, supplemented in some areas by ACC3 accelerator to achieve a faster reaction of the material.
The work was carried out under cramped conditions: the workers were lowered into the narrow inspection shafts while sitting on chairs in order to inject the material with precision using mechanical packers with flat-head nipples.
A WEBAC injection pump was used, which enabled uniform and reliable material delivery even under difficult conditions. Even with hose lengths of up to 60 meters, the PU injection resin was reliably transported to the designated locations at high flow rates.
These targeted measures achieved effective sealing and preserved the function of the Oder dam as a technical infrastructure element in the long term.

WEBAC PURseal is a fast-curing, permanently sealing PU injection resin. It cures into a compact, high-strength material without contact with water, while it reacts with a slight foaming action upon contact with water. The resin is used for subsoil stabilization and rock reinforcement, as well as for sealing against flowing and pressurized water in Foundation Pits, tunnels, and transportation infrastructure projects.
