Full-surface waterproofing of historic building structure, Freising

In Freising, a section of medieval masonry located directly along one of the Moosach’s many canals was restored. This extensive network of waterways has shaped the city for centuries: it supplied residents with water, powered mills, and also served as flood protection.

For adjacent structures, however, constant contact with water has always posed a particular structural challenge. This issue was also clearly evident in this renovation project. The historic masonry had been exposed to standing water for a long time. To protect the structure in the long term, a full-surface waterproofing treatment was carried out using WEBAC 1440. WEBAC 1440 is an injection resin for waterproofing water-exposed structural elements. It provides reliable protection against water penetration and is therefore particularly suitable for renovation projects where the existing building fabric is to be preserved.
This allowed the medieval masonry to be professionally restored and permanently secured for the future.

Products Used

  • PU Injection Resins

    WEBAC® 1440

    • Classic Line

WEBAC 1440 is a highly flexible PU injection resin that forms a tear-resistant foam structure and is particularly suitable for structures with cavities/voids. It cures with constant volume to form a chemically highly resistant resin that stabilizes porous masonry and increases its strength and waterproofing properties. It is used for closing, sealing, and creating limited-elasticity joints between building components and is suitable as a post-construction damp proof course (dpc) against capillary rising damp in various types of masonry.
