Post-construction damp proof course (dpc) in a historic rotunda, Munich

The striking rotunda, with a diameter of 52 meters, was built in Munich in 1926 according to plans by Robert Vorhoelzer and Walther Schmidt. Until 1985, it served as the central parcel post office, providing direct access for all of the city’s delivery districts. The rotunda is regarded by experts as an example of the so-called “Postbauschule” (School of Postal Architecture) and is now a listed building.

Sealing of Masonry
Post-construction damp proof course (dpc) in a historic rotunda, Munich

WEBAC 1403 was used to create a traditional damp proof course (dpc) using the pressure injection method, which provides long-term protection for the masonry in the foundation area against rising damp.

The installation follows the BuFAS Engineering Guideline IM-01/2009 for the installation of post-construction damp proof courses (dpc) in masonry. The measure served to provide permanent protection against rising damp and was specifically tailored to the requirements of the historic masonry.

This laid an essential foundation for permanently preserving the historic structure and enabling the sustainable use of the listed building.

    WEBAC® 1403

    • Classic Line

WEBAC 1403 is a long-track-record proven PU injection resin, particularly valued for its safe and controlled application. Upon contact with water, it cures into a closed, waterproof, and dimensionally stable resin with a fine pore structure. It is suitable for sealing, crack injection, and stabilizing masonry and concrete, and is used for post-construction damp proof courses (dpc) against capillary rising damp.
