The so-called Villa Rustica in the municipality of Boos in the district of Bad Kreuznach is a historic landmark with direct ties to the Roman era. The historic structure combines a half-timbered house on a stone plinth with an underlying Roman vaulted cellar. As such, the building constitutes an architecturally significant complex, where the preservation of the existing structure imposes special requirements on any renovation work.

As part of the planned drainage of the west wall of the vaulted cellar, the causes of the moisture damage were first investigated. Over an extended period, those involved analyzed possible sources of moisture ingress. An adjacent sewer line and leaks in the road area were ruled out. According to the expert report, the extensive moisture damage on the west side is likely due to rising groundwater.
Moisture ingress was particularly pronounced in the area of a concrete vault that was built into Roman wall remains and serves as a support for the adjacent boundary wall. WEBAC 240 was used for the targeted waterproofing of the moisture-affected masonry areas. The injection system was tailored to the requirements of the existing structure in contact with the ground and enabled waterproofing without extensive intervention in the historic building fabric.
Thanks to this targeted measure, the west wall of the vaulted cellar was permanently protected against moisture penetration. At the same time, the historic character of the Roman vaulted cellar was preserved.

Acrylat Gels
WEBAC 240 is a low-viscosity, fast-setting polyacrylate injection gel with National Technical Approval from DIBt (B-concentration 2%). After curing, it forms a waterproof, firm-elastic gel that reliably absorbs dynamic and mechanical stresses. It is particularly suitable for curtain injection—either in the subsoil immediately adjacent to the structural element or within the existing building structure—as well as for subsoil stabilization and waterproofing or damp proof courses (dpc).
